Random Interval Timer App
A random interval timer app is for drills where you do not want a predictable countdown. Instead of fixed rounds, you get unpredictable cue moments and react instantly.
Plan your own training in Re:Do Workouts.
Create the workout in your own words, run it step by step with timers and notes, schedule it when it fits, and log what actually happened.
When random intervals are useful
- Martial arts: explode on the cue, then reset without anticipating the next one
- Footwork: burst, settle, burst again
- Conditioning: quick changes of pace inside a longer set
- Skill work: crisp reps at “go” moments (not on a metronome)
How Re:Do implements random cues
In Re:Do, random cues live inside an actual exercise (not a standalone beeper). Use Target mode to set a time window and a target number of cue moments. Then enable Random trigger sounds to play cue sounds at unpredictable times during the set.
Tutorial: build a “random cue” set
- Create an exercise in Target mode.
- Set duration (example: 3:00).
- Set Target reps (example: 12 cue moments).
- Enable Random trigger sounds.
- Add the exercise to a workout and run it in the Training Player.
Practical drill ideas
- “Burst + reset”: cue = 2–5 seconds hard work, then calm breathing until the next cue.
- “Defense first”: cue = slip/roll + counter combo (or sprawl + angle out).
- “Sprint start”: cue = 10–15m acceleration, walk back slowly.
- “Grip pop”: cue = one explosive pull/turn/stand-up rep with perfect mechanics.
FAQ
Is this the same as a HIIT interval timer?
Not exactly. HIIT timers are usually predictable rounds. Random cues are about reaction and execution quality.
Re:Do also supports normal interval structure when you want it.
Can I still plan full workouts?
Yes. Random-cue exercises can live inside a routine with warmups, main work, cooldown, and tracking.
Will this make my training “harder”?
It can. Start conservative, especially if you are doing explosive movements or striking.
